Until the launch of Chapter 2.3, we're posting Weird Luck character art each week by a series of awesome guest artists. This week's artist is Rivenis, creator of the brilliant webcomic Cosmic Cicada!

Cosmic Cicada combines fantasy, cosmic horror, dark humor, and good old rock 'n' roll, and like all the best webcomics it defies easy description and you've just got to experience it for yourself. Check it out, starting here.

You can support Rivenis' work on Cosmic Cicada via his Patreon, and follow him on Bluesky or Facebook, And if you need some great art in his inimitable psychedelic style, he's also available for commissions.

As you can see, Rivenis really caught the vibe of our favorite kindhearted therapist. Come back next week for a second piece by Rivenis, featuring his take on Smiley!

And speaking of the launch of Chapter 2.3, check out this free public Patreon post for some notes about what's coming up in Weird Luck!

In between chapters, we've invited some of our favorite artists to share their renditions of various Weird Luck characters. This week, our guest artist is Emmy-nominated animation director Guy Moore, an old friend whom you may remember for his delightful drawing of the little-kid versions of Charles and Arok, and his art in the action-packed Weird Luck prequel tale Research.

Nicky's longtime love for the work of P.G. Wodehouse has been a major influence on how he writes Smiley, and Guy's rendition of Smiley perfectly captures the Wodehouse vibe. You can tell he'd be right at home having lunch at the Drones Club with Bertie Wooster and the gang (and no doubt pulling Bertie into some intricate hare-brained scheme).

If we ever have the opportunity to turn Weird Luck into an animated series, we want Guy to direct it.

For more of Guy's art, check out his portfolio!

This week's piece of Weird Luck character art is by our brilliant Weird Luck co-creator Mike Bennewitz.

Mike drew this fabulous piece back in January, as proposed cover art for a future paperback edition of Entry Points, the first volume of the comic. Obviously, we had to include it in this series of Weird Luck character drawings, since it features all the major Entry Points characters.

You can see more of Mike's art on his website, and he's also on Bluesky.

As we announced a couple of weeks ago, Mike will be stepping down from his position as the main Weird Luck artist after Chapter 2.3. Here's his own statement about that decision.

Chapter 2.3 launches in November, and it features some of Mike's best Weird Luck art yet. He'll be finishing his long and magnificent run in style.

Here's another amazing piece of Weird Luck character art from the excellent Steven Bristow, who'll be stepping in as the new official Weird Luck artist starting with Chapter 2.4.

This time, Steven brings us his renditions of the badger-headed crime boss Hoban and his employees Shauna and Addison.

Shauna is Hoban's chief lieutenant and also manages his nightclub, the Wild Wood. Addison tends bar at the Wild Wood and also serves as a gatherer and dispenser of information for Hoban's criminal network. The two of them have similar tattoos because when they were in their teens they were both members of the same all-girl street gang. Hoban recruited the entire gang into his operation about a decade ago.

We met Hoban, Addison, and Shauna when Tyger visited the Wild Wood near the beginning of Chapter 1.3, and we recently saw Shauna again at the end of Chapter 2.2 (along with another member of her old gang who now works as one of the Wild Wood's bouncers). We won't see them again for a while, but they're all slated for a brief return in the first chapter of Volume Three!

This week's amazing piece of Weird Luck character art is by London-based artist Steven Bristow.

Which brings us to our big announcement: our beloved Weird Luck co-creator and longtime artist Mike Bennewitz will be stepping down after the upcoming Chapter 2.3, and Steven Bristow will be taking over as the new official artist for Weird Luck.

We'll have another spectacular piece of Weird Luck character art from Steven next week, and then you'll see him again when we launch Chapter 2.4. (Weird Luck Patreon members might get a sneak peek or two before then.)

You can find Steven on Bluesky and see more of his brilliant art on his own Patreon.

This week's guest art is a portrait of our favorite therapist by manga creator, animator, and game designer Mayshing.

Check out Mayshing's online manga here and her game design studio here, and follow her on Bluesky here. She also runs a second Bluesky account, Angel of Altabestudio, where she posts writing prompts for creators; if you've seen the collections of Nicky's Bluesky writing promt responses that occasionally show up on the Weird Luck Patreon, a lot of those writing prompts came from Mayshing!

The main Weird Luck storyline will resume in November with Chapter 2.3. We'll have more Weird Luck character art for you every week until then!

Our next therapy session with Bianca is scheduled for Chapter 2.4.

We begin our exhibition of Weird Luck guest art with this delightful pic of Charles and Arok by D.E. Amon, creator of the webcomic Jalek and the Starbook.

Jalek and the Starbook features a mild-mannered professor whose life takes a turn for the weird when a strange unreadable old book mysteriously shows up in his briefcase. You can find it on various webcomic platforms, learn more about Amon's world here, and follow Amon on Bluesky here.

Not all of the guest art we'll be posting is necessarily canonical, but we like to imagine this snack break took place just half an hour or so before Charles and Arok's first appearance at the beginning of Chapter 1.5.

We've received some terrific pieces of guest art in response to the call we put out, and we'll be posting them over the next several weeks. We're still accepting guest art until the end of September. (Actually, we'll always accept guest art, but anything we receive after September won't be posted this year.)

The regular Weird Luck storyline will resume in November with Chapter 2.3, which will feature further snacking by Charles and Arok!

End of chapter.

For the next several weeks, while Mike finishes drawing Chapter 2.3, we'll be posting pieces of Weird Luck character art by artists who've responded to our Fan Art Challenge.

Also, that Fan Art Challenge is still open! We're accepting pieces until the end of September.

Chapter 2.3, "Breakfast," will launch sometime in October. It's our favorite chapter yet, and it will answer one of the most frequent questions we get from Weird Luck readers: Why the heck is there a 21st-century-style city in the middle of this chaos-warped nightmare wasteland?

Mariel will return in Chapter 2.7.

Hey, look, it's Shauna!

Remember Shauna?

(Shauna's intimidating silent companion appears on that page, too, on bouncer duty, sans jacket, leaning against the bar in the background.)

Yes, that Beth.

Yes, that Madeline.

Mariel has an interesting friend circle.
